Thua Thien Hue plans 1,500 ha coastal urban area

Thua Thien Hue province has just approved the 1:2000 detailed plan for the Vinh Thanh urban area and its surrounding area (Phu Vang district) on an area of more than 1500 hectares.

The planning area covers more than 1,500 hectares, of which Vinh Thanh village covers more than 1,000 hectares; Vinh An village area comprises over 218 hectares; Vinh Xuan village area is over 231 hectares, all located in Phu Vang district. The estimated population scale by 2030 is about 25,000 people, and by 2040 is about 37,000 people.

The Vinh Thanh urban area stands out as it borders the sea and is adjacent to the Tam Giang lagoon area. The area is built with the aim of becoming a central town in the coastal and lagoon region of Phu Vang district. The urban area is developed according to the eco-urban model; it focuses on environmental landscape, associated with the promotion of tourism services, aquaculture, and fishing. The urban area is upgraded, combined with new construction with a synchronous infrastructure system, and linked to tourism and services.

The Vinh Thanh urban area is planned to be divided into four main zones: the coastal space zone, the current urban space zone, the inland water space zone, and the beachfront space zone. The coastal space zone will focus on exploiting the ecosystem of Tam Giang lagoon and its natural water surface to create tourism service complexes, hotels, and entertainment areas that reflect the characteristics of the lagoon region. At the same time, it will combine the development of fisheries and related cottage industries.

The current urban space zone will build a system of social and technical infrastructure. It will rearrange existing concentrated residential areas and develop urban residential areas.

The inland water space zone will explore the special landscape of the Sen River to create a unique green core for the Vinh Thanh urban area. In the future, it will aim to combine the exploitation of specific types of tourism services, high-end residential areas, and green agricultural areas.

The beachfront space zone will develop eco-tourism services with standards such as international resorts and hotels, community entertainment areas, and public beaches.

Vinh Thanh city and its surrounding areas will prioritize comprehensive investment in technical infrastructure systems and resettlement land funds to ensure resource balance and resettlement arrangements when implementing projects in the area. It will focus on developing the coastal zone service area of the Sen River, coastal land funds, the beachfront area of Vinh An commune, and the landscape axis that connects the lagoon and Vinh Thanh beach.

Priority will be given to investing in green spaces, combining parking lots with greenery and planting trees on sidewalks. In addition, there will be investments in social infrastructure such as commercial service facilities, schools, and cultural structures.
